What is hope?

Hope, a thought, power or substance?

Hope can come in many shapes, forms, and sizes. It has an immense power, the power to change outcomes of a given situation, to change despair into victory, turn the odds and battle against the storms, whatever they might be. But, sometimes hope can be a double edged sword, because just as hope can give you the power to steer something in the right direction, hope can also lead to false expectations, over-confidence and ultimately lead to catastrophic failure.

Hope has the power to mend or break, and that power is placed in the hands of it’s wielder, that’s when it becomes important that you know how to use it.

A good tip in that regards, it is very important to manage expectations, a little hope goes a long way, and is always needed when challenges arrive, but it is very important not to let that same hope become grow so strong that it results in impossible fantasies, or grandiose thoughts being put on the center stage just as if they were a definite outcome. In these circumstances hope can become the very opposite of itself, the very thing that crushes the hope you had.

I myself have many times had the hope to overcome insurmountable odds, but also to destroy myself completely. I cannot for certain teach you how to hope, but there is often a sense that comes with it, listen to it, and do not get fooled if it sounds too good to be true, many times it is.

My final words, don’t be scared to hope, but don’t let hope take over, you have the power, you just need to know how to use it.

Stay strong
